UK dental patients want to talk more
A significant number of dental patients in the UK would welcome the opportunity to spend more time talking to their dentist about available treatments, the latest research from the British Dental Trade Association has revealed. Surveyed patients stated they would like to discuss pros and cons to help them make more informed treatment choices.

As reported by dentistry.co.uk, the survey also revealed that every fifth patient is open to a variety of elective treatments although current awareness of available treatments is quite low.

According to the research, 88 per cent of all respondents are satisfied with the level of service they receive, with 46.6 per cent of them being extremely happy and 41.8 per cent being fairly happy.

The majority of the respondents (both NHS and private) stated that they had found their current dentist by word of mouth. Similarly, they would prefer a personal recommendation by a family member or a friend to any other means of finding a new dentist (67 per cent private; 65 per cent NHS).

The survey found that many patients (59 per cent) find it easier to overcome their fear of dental treatment if the environment is a friendly and relaxing one.
