British Dental Trade Association to donate up to £10,000 to dental charities
The organisers of the UK’s largest dental exhibition, the BDTA (British Dental Trade Association) Dental Showcase, hope to raise funds of up to £10,000 for three dental charities as part of their new e-ticketing system. The money will go to Dentaid, Bridge2Aid and the British Dental Health Foundation.

With the theme “a voyage of discovery”, the 2012 Dental Showcase will take place in London from 4 to 6 October. The UK’s largest dental exhibition looks set to attract more than 320 exhibitors this year.

Delegates are invited to vote for their favourite dental charity when they register for their exhibition e-ticket. “When online registrations reach 20,000, we will donate £5,000, shared out between the charities in accordance with your votes. When registrations reach 25,000 we will add another £5,000 to be shared between them in the same way,” the BDTA stated in a press release.

“We are delighted to be chosen as one of the charities being supported by BDTA Dental Showcase,” said Dr Nigel Carter OBE, Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation. “The foundation continues to do outstanding work in raising the awareness of oral health and any donations made, no matter how big or small, make such a huge difference.”

According to Carter, regular donations are a vital part of fundraising efforts, particularly in the foundation’s work to highlight the dangers of mouth cancer, which is now diagnosed in 6,000 people in the UK every year. “It is important that we continue to raise awareness of the early warning signs of the disease, as well as the risk factors—to be able to do this, continued support and generous donations are vital. I speak on behalf of the foundation when I say an enormous thank you to the BDTA and to all those in the community who will vote for us in the coming weeks,” Carter said.
