What is pulpotomy in children?

Reset Decrease Increase
Pulpotomy is a type of dentistry treatment. Pulpotomy is performed when tooth decay progresses to involve the pulp or nerve of baby tooth.

Pulpotomy helps retain the baby tooth until the permanent tooth takes its place.

This procedure is a very simple one.

During pulpotomy, tooth decay and the infected nerve tissue in the crown portion of the tooth are removed.

Then, the dentist will place a sedative dressing over the uninfected tissue in the roots.

The pulp chamber is then filled with a composite or amalgam filling.

After that, the dentist will prepare the tooth for a crown. The prefabricated crown is the fitted onto the tooth.

In this way, your child will be able to keep its baby tooth
