Braces
In this case study is presented a detailed brake down of orthodontic appliances (braces).

The bonded bracket is fixed to each tooth. An archwire runs through each bracket and is kept in place by an elastic ligature.

In some cases, a bracket may be held in place by a silver steel ligature.

Braces can have self - ligating bracket which uses a sliding door mechanism to hold the wire in place.

A variety of hooks may be used along with elastics or rubber band wear. These include crimpable and regular hooks and a K – Tie with hook.

Elastics are used to help correct the bite and malocclusion.

Elastic chains are used to close the space between teeth. A coil spring helps to open a space and maintain it.

The Headgear Tube is a part of the band on the molars.
