Tooth bonding

Reset Decrease Increase
If you have a slight imperfection on your teeth, bonding can be a simple way to improve your smile.
Bonding can repair teeth that are:

- stained
- chipped
- crooked
- having minor gaps

In some cases, bonding can repair a cavity with a natural looking tooth colored restoration.
Bonding can be o quick procedure that is often done in an hour or two. Many bonding procedures can be performed without anesthesia. In general, bonding procedures are less expensive than crowns or veneers.
To prepare a tooth for bonding, a dentist will first clean off any plaque and tartar. The dentist will then choose a shade that matches your natural tooth color.

For bonding, a tooth needs to be dry, so the dentist may use a rubber dam to isolate the tooth.
At first, the dentist will use a mild etching solution to condition the surface. This helps the bonding agent adhere to the tooth.
The dentist will then apply the bonding material and set it with a special curing light. The dentist will then add a layer of resin and hardened with the curing light.

The dentist may do this several times until the bonding reaches proper thickness.
Once all layers have been placed, the dentist will sculpt them to the desired shape. The dentist will then check your bite to make sure your tooth function properly.

Finally, the dentist will polish the tooth until the surface is smooth.
With proper care, the bonding material should last between 3 an 10 years.
Bonding can be a good way to repair minor problems and give you a beautiful smile
